Terms
Effective July 27, 2026
In short
- Homa is a shared memory for a household of up to two adults.
- One subscription covers your whole household, monthly or yearly. The first two weeks are free (a month with a referral code), no card to start, and it renews until you cancel.
- Homa's AI can mis-sort or mis-date things — you confirm the receipt, so what's saved is on you.
- You own what you capture. You can leave any time, right from the app.
What Homa is
Homa is a shared household memory for up to two adults. You say or type what's on your mind; Homa sorts it into things to buy, dates, and things to handle, and shares it with the person you live with.
These Terms are the agreement between you and Lukas-Jonas Phangureh, who runs Homa from Manitoba, Canada, for using the Homa app and the website at homa.house. Using Homa means you accept them. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your information and is part of this agreement.
Your account
You sign in with a link — or a short code — sent to your email; there's no password. Keep access to your email safe, because whoever can open that link can reach your home. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
One account belongs to one person, and a household holds at most two people. You need to be an adult (at least 18 years old) to use Homa.
Your content is yours
Everything you capture in Homa is yours, and you keep all rights to it. You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, to process it (including having our AI sort it into items), and to show it to the people in your household.
That permission lasts only as long as you keep the content in Homa and ends when you delete it. We never use your content to train AI models, and we never use it for advertising or marketing.
Using Homa well
Use Homa lawfully and kindly. Please don't: use it for anything illegal or harmful; attack, overload, probe, or try to break the service; try to reach households or data that aren't yours; scrape or harvest others' information; or resell or commercially exploit the service without our written permission.
If an account is used to harm Homa or other people, we may act to protect them (see “If things end”).
Your plan
A subscription covers your whole household — both of you — on a monthly or a yearly plan. Your first two weeks are on us (a full month if you came in with a referral code), and we don't ask for a card to start. The price is always shown in the app before you pay; in the iPhone app it is set by the App Store for your country, so it differs from place to place.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period — every month, or every year — until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
How you pay depends on where you signed up. On the web you pay through Stripe, and you can cancel from “Manage your plan”. In the iPhone app you pay through Apple's In-App Purchase: the subscription lives in your Apple Account and is cancelled there, and “Manage your plan” takes you straight to it.
If a plan lapses, the house locks. Your lists, dates and history all stay exactly where they are, but you won't be able to open or add to them until a plan is picked up again. Settings stays reachable the whole time, so you can always manage your plan, sign out, or leave Homa. Picking a plan brings everything back just as you left it.
Prices may change; we'll give you notice before a change affects what you pay. We handle refunds fairly and in line with Apple's or Stripe's process and the law where you live — purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple rather than by us. If something went wrong, write to us; we'd rather be honest than stingy.
Referral codes
Referral codes give a longer free trial and have no cash value. A household can use one code, once. We can revoke a code or end the referral program at any time — but we never take back free trial time already granted.
If you're a partner who shares codes, your commission arrangement with us is a separate agreement, not part of these Terms.
The sorting isn't perfect
Homa uses AI to turn your words into items, and it won't always get the wording, the category, or the date right. That's exactly why Homa shows you a receipt to confirm before anything is saved.
What you confirm is your responsibility — please give dates and important details a quick look. Homa is a helpful memory, not a substitute for your own judgment; don't rely on it for anything critical.
Changes and availability
We're always improving Homa, so features may change, arrive, or go away. We don't promise the service will always be available or uninterrupted.
If we ever decide to discontinue Homa or a major part of it, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your data first.
If things end
You can leave Homa any time from settings; what happens to your data is spelled out in our Privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms; we'll give reasonable notice unless the problem is serious or urgent (for example, harm to others or to the service).
Some parts of these Terms — like ownership, disclaimers, and the limits on liability — continue to apply after you leave.
No warranties
Homa is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We work hard to keep it running and gentle, but we don't guarantee it will be available, error-free, secure, or perfectly accurate. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so parts may not apply to you.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Homa and its makers aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for lost data or profits, arising from using — or being unable to use — Homa.
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, or takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
Covering claims
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Homa, or because you broke these Terms or the law, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result, to the extent the law allows. This doesn't apply to the extent a claim results from our own wrongdoing, or where the law where you live limits this kind of obligation.
If we disagree
Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you have a problem, please tell us first — write to hello@homa.house and most things we can put right quickly. If we can't resolve it informally within 30 days, either of us may take the matter to the courts of the jurisdiction named above. There's no forced arbitration and no class-action waiver here. You keep any consumer-protection rights the law where you live gives you — some of those override this section, and we'll follow them.
If you got Homa from an app store
If you downloaded the Homa app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply to your use of the app. You agree that the store is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and isn't responsible for handling any claims relating to it.
Your permission to use the Homa app is granted by us, not by the store you downloaded it from. The store has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and no warranty obligation of any kind — any warranty claim is ours to answer, and if the app doesn't do what it should, that's between you and us.
If anyone claims the app infringes their intellectual property, we are responsible for investigating and defending that claim, not the store. Questions or complaints about the app should come to us, at the address at the foot of this page.
Where their rules require it, Apple and Google (and their subsidiaries) are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you're not located in a country under a relevant embargo and aren't on a prohibited-parties list.
The fine print, in plain words
Severability — if part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still stands.
Entire agreement — these Terms and our Privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Homa.
Transfer — we may transfer this agreement to another company, for example if Homa is acquired. You may not transfer your account or this agreement to someone else without our permission.
No waiver — if we don't enforce a part of these Terms right away, we haven't given it up.
Notices — we'll reach you by email or inside the app.
Changes to these Terms — we may update them as Homa grows. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app. Continuing to use Homa after a change means you accept it.
